If you like buying Used Gear

Post by digitaldrummer » Tue Aug 08, 2023 5:27 pm

In case you didn't know, Sweetwater has a "Used Gear" marketplace. If you sell, they charge the same as Reverb (as of today) @ 7.5%. Or you can get a Sweetwater gift card and they charge 0%. I took advantage of that once too... it's fairly active too.

But... psst... if you are buying, at least for me (in Texas), they have not charged sales tax yet. This can be huge for the buyer (and for me sales tax would be 8.25%). And even for the seller (if you price the same as Reverb or eBay, your item could be lower cost out the door...). I'm not sure what loophole allows them to do this, but I'm digging it. get it while you can, and you didn't hear it from me...

unfortunately, it seems Gear Exchange decided they did need to collect sales tax. :| oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
