it might. Some private equity firms have been known to "optimize" the company - usually meaning they make huge cuts in order to squeeze every bit of profit out that they can before they sell it off again. If that happens, then I wouldn't look for much new from avid in the way of releases, patches, etc.. And if you are not a Avid/PT user, then no, you won't care.

Given that the live sound consoles can go for over $100k, any change in support might be a BFD. Those things are still one of the most popular rider demands in the A-list world.

yeah, true. it's not just about software, although I think they are still a pretty big deal in the video/film editing world too (but that's not my world)
