If ya wanna read about it, I'll not post my long story here, just the link, what I hope amuses and edumucates:

I agree the seller was slow to initially respond, but I’m not clear Why wouldn’t you just provide a video demonstrating the issue when reverb asked? This is a pretty standard policy and reasonable expectation for refunds on reverb / eBay / etc.

When I sell on reverb - I’ve occasionally had troubled buyers, or I have received a broken item, if there is an issue they have to provide a video. Since my experience last year (buyer tried to initiate a refund on a working item, that they just didn’t take the time to research) before I ship something, I make a video for myself showing the item working, and I document my packing process, and purchase “safe shipping” whatever crap from reverb, just to make my process as seamless as possible in the event of an issue.

I bill by the hour - somebody hasta pay me to do extra - that's how I do my real life business, and for over 30 years.

And no, I don't charge $45/hr or whatever that clown wanted here for his opinion - this was a seemingly scam sale of a defective item with no visible damage.

And these types of issues are part of my RL business.

There was no mention of "proving" until the seller made a scam "shipping damage" claim.

I can't be arsed to make a video (not a thing for me), and certainly not to support a scammer's claim delaying my refund.

The Reverb "specialist" sat on it for 3-4 days, and gave me pushback and implied threats.

If I "need" to do videos to support my position in the face of implications that I am a liar and thief, by an entity issuing implied threats, I am not doing business. I'll further note I never sell and never have sold online, because of this stuff. Now, I'll not buy on Reverb; I demanded they close my account.

FAFO, as the RWNJ's and kids now say.

BTW, they told me to keep the defective amp and then asked for it back.

Really?

What doesn't make sense to you?*

Not looking for a fight here, just thought the story was funny, but also not appreciative of whatever you think you are so passive-aggressively conveying.

Hope your day gets better.*

*See, I can do it, too.

I'm confused. What was the issue with the amp? and if it's not visible, then is it something you can hear, on a video? So, make a video with your phone, and you're done.

yeah, non issue here. reverb does the video thing to verify you're a real person and not a scammer. i've done it many times, quality doesn't matter, do it with your phone. i love reverb support, they helped me get a positive resolution on every issue i've ever had.

They can also hear it when I return it, which I would have done if they weren't so ... tone deaf.

And if the scamming seller complied to support his scamming claim.

Seriously, why would I do something someone has no right to ask me to do?

To be a nice guy so they can look for a reason not to refund?

I could have returned it because I just didn't want it.

Bit it was defective, I asked for a refund the day I received it, and they implied I was a fraudster - fcuk 'em and the cops who are their daddies.

The seller was the scammer, and if I played their game they might have used the video against me - I might mention this is adjacent to what I do for a living.

Never give 'em evidence, never give 'em anything to use against you - I had a right of return, period.

It's not my job to make anyone else's job easier, particularly when as here I had every reason to believe the seller was scamming and would try to continue it.

"verify you're a real person and not a scammer"??? How does a video help with that?

They had my money, I had a long interaction for a lotta money at the site, and this was was my first issue.

And it was my last.

They implied I'm a crook, and I got my money back, and they lost my bidness.

With that kind of potential future shite (remember, they said, "last time we fix this") I'm ahead, they lost, and I have no further risk of it happening again - I call that a positive result.

Lemme give you an over-the-top-example - cop pulls you over for no apparent reason and wants to search your car - do you let him?

What if he wants you to blow, do you?

In context, before 9/11, I refused building security, metal detectors, searches, etc., also. And was never refused entrance ... (But don't think there was no threats or yelling.)

Also for context, I own a cuppla Faraday bags.

All OT, of course, but that's my mind set. :high:

I have another funny, OT story.

Years ago I bought a step machine.

It was defective, but the sports store refused to take the return 2 hours after the sale, said I hadda ship it to the manufacturer for a refund.

I didn't dis-assemble it (took an hour plus to put it together), just tied it to the roof of my car and brought it back to the store and put it on the sidewalk in front of the plate glass window.

Manager came out with my money.

I absolutely refuse to get ripped off, and will go at them about it everytime.
