Kate Bush "Ariel"
I just bought this yesterday. Loving it! A lot of music on 2 cd's. This is how it's done girls.
Re: Kate Bush "Ariel"
I tried but I found it repetitive, undynamic and very boring. Where are the melodies? Where is the intensity?Dr8Ve wrote:I just bought this yesterday. Loving it! A lot of music on 2 cd's. This is how it's done girls.

Yes, I am one of THOSE people, up in the attic, trying to recreate the magical sounds of my youth (cheap trick, boston, pavement) on the family 8 track recorder.

oh yeah...
since this is Tape Op, does anyone have info on La Bush's recording/work methods? I always envisioned her as some sort of home recording pioneer, with a big old Fairlight, and a bunch of other stuff in a reconditioned barn in the English countryside. Not sure where i got that idea from. Anybody got the scoop?

She does have a fairly well-equipped home studio. Del Palmer (husband? I thought they split) engineers and plays bass.
To the Hounds Of Love fan: That's a great album, but make sure to find the CD with bonus tracks. "Under the Ivy" is seriously one of her most amazing songs, and very minimal instrumentation. If that's the only CD you have check out (in this order in my opinion):
The Dreaming (Holy shit, I think her best. Sampling used the right way!)
Never Forever
The Sensual World ("This Woman's Work" is also amazing)
The Kick Inside
Lionheart
Wait until you're obessesed:
Ariel
The Red Shoes (my least fave)

Am I nuts or is this new Kate Bush record her worst? I'm having a rough time remembering any of the songs or getting any idea what they're about or any emotionaly content. I'm off for a flight tomorrow, just bought really god Shure earbuds and will check it in the iPod and report back. Maybe it's a sleeper? I hope so. Been such a long wait...
