recommend me some instrumental hip hop
Never really got into hip hop before, but I just got turned on to Prefuse 73 and RJD2 and I'm lovin' it.
The production is excellent and there's something like song structure going on there. Dope.
Recommend some more stuff like this?

Write a good song, and they will come
there are a couple albums that Dan the Automator produced that you should check out. the original albums are great, but since you're asking about instrumental versions, you can get those too. they are "deltron 3030" and "dr. octogynecologist"
they probably had DJs in mind when they released the instrumental versions.

daedelus is cool.
He's on Scott Heren's (Prefuse 73 dude) label, Eastern Developments.
Anything Scott does is awesome. He has so many different projects.
Probably the most hip-hoppy is Delarosa and Asora. I like that stuff a lot.
Glitch-hop, you might say.

What a lot of people (myself included) consider one of the defining albums of the genre (if it really is a genre) is DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing..." it just got a 10-year reissue with a bonus disc. just get it. you don't need to hear it first.
Check out the forthcoming J Dilla LP "Donuts". I really like what I heard of that.
and Cannibal Ox "Oxstrumentals" the vocal version "The Cold Vein" is an overlooked classic.

Rob Swift did a hot track on Herbie Hancock's Future to Future. That record is pretty good...
Luke Vibert did this thing called Plug and released something called Drum n Bass for Poppa that is AWESOME.

Boom Bip; 'Seed to the Sun' is an excellent disc. Also, check out some of the Alias stuff, although he does use vocals on some of his stuff. DJ Spooky does some nice work too. I like the disc he did with some modern jazz musicians; William Parker, Matthew Shipp, etc. Can't remember the album name...it's on Thirsty Ear Records.
i'd second pretty much all the stuff that's been mentioned already. i'll add Caural to the list. his ep "Blurred July" is really great. only 4 songs, but a good introduction. also, Dabrye, on Ghostly International, has a good record called One/Three. there are mp3s for download on epitonic.com. some might call this a stretch, but I'd heartily recommend "Music Has The Right To Children" by Boards of Canada.

Those are good albums as instrumentals, but GREAT with the vocals. I believe Dan the Automater is also behind Handsome Boy Modeling School (which, again, has vocals) and the first Gorillaz album.lyman wrote:"deltron 3030" and "dr. octogynecologist"
Other instrumental hip hop suggestions: Herbaliser, Kid Koala, DJ Cam, RJD2, Nightmares on Wax. As a genre, instrumental hip hop is a little dated, so most of this stuff is 5-10 years old.

Dabryre is one of the most well respected people working at the moment. I don't know if I agree about instrumental hip-hop being dated. DJ/turntablist stuff like DJ Shadow, Cam, Vadim etc...might be but the electronic/synthesized stuff is very fresh.

Also, you should listen to some of the European styles like Grime, Dubstep and Eurocrunk No seriously, ignore the names but check out people like Skream, Staks of Stamina etc...
