critique my mix (concerns with eq, blending piano/vox)

Post by yourmomsp » Mon May 14, 2007 6:54 am

hi,

i have another song that i could use some suggestions on, particularly in regards to eq and also i'm trying to get the vocals and pianos to blend together better. i've played around a little with some combination and reverb and tape delay. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I think the vocals sound a bit too syllabant (sp?) For example, the line "...flesh sinks in the snow..." really stands out on the high end because of all the "ssss" sounds. I think the trick will be to make sure that the to vocal parts exist in their own space in that regard.

the space sounds fine to me.
pan the vocals apart just slightly and do something about that sibilance.
i think it really makes the song very difficult to listen to.

piano sounds really cool, i've tried many times to get a decent upright type sound out of plug ins and a roland but it never works. I think the vocals are cool like that, maybe suck a little of the high end out so theres not so much ssss but I like the intimacy of them, suits the tune well.
