Mission Of Burma

Post by cgarges » Sat Aug 14, 2010 4:53 pm

I just had to say that one of the bands I play with opened for Mission Of Burma at Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill last night and holy crap were they good! I've always liked those guys but had never seen them live. Unbelievable! And of course, Bob Weston was behind the console and doing his "manipultions" and the sound was fantastic (and with a relatively quick setup and soundcheck, too). On top of that, they're all very friendly guys.

They're playing at the 40 Watt for the Athens Pop Festival tonight. If for some reason any of you Athens folks missed the Flagpole articles and the billboards around town, I highly recommend that you high-tail it over there for the show this evening. No doubt it will be great. And I believe Bob will have been fueled by two days' worth of NC barbecue.

I'm a long-time fan of MOB.

I think they are better than ever, and I particularly love The Obliterati .

If I had the chance to open for Mission of Burma, I would die happy. They're my all time favorite band!

MOB - YES!
I had the great fortune of playing on the bill with them last week at the Athens Popfest in raymilland. Mission of Burma create a massive and powerful sound. The drummer, Peter Prescott, is out of this world and is a wonder to watch. The pure energy is so inspiring. Do not miss them if you get a chance....

I'm a Roger Miller fan, but if you get a chance check out Conley's other band Consonant (with Chris Brokaw!), also; good stuff.

+1, One of the few "reunited" bands that really lives up to their reputation.
