Okay, okay, "maniac" is a completely inappropriate and exaggerated characterization-- he's actually a marvelously sensitive, brilliant player who's just settled on this unusual instrument to stake his claim to glory-- which, time will prove, is undisputed.
The thing that gets me: there's something about the angular, seemingly disjointed flux of these jazz melodies that just gets under your skin and into the bloodstream-- flowing, soothing, haunting.
