Radiohead's The Bends, maybe it's because I got into their later work first but this album never really did much for me.

David Bowie, pretty much everything he's done (despite my love for Visconti, Eno and Fripp's work on his albums).

Radiohead is taking a real beating here! Interesting. They are similar to Coldplay in that they always sound exactly like themselves, which means that people either love 'em or hate 'em.

Are the NY Dolls records acclaimed? If so, add them to my list of acclaimed recs that don't grab me. Same with MC5. Historical interest only.

SMiLE- Listened to the unreleased tracks, and also to the more recently completed "brian wilson presents..." edition. sure, there are some ambitions arrangements and some interesting stuff going on but i honestly have no desire to listen to it again.

New York Dolls- well, their first record is acclaimed by fans of punk and glam. sure it was ahead of the curve, but i think it sucks.

Nevermind, nirvana- never owned this record. those songs were on the radio often enough, i never felt the need to buy it. In Utero is better anyway.

Superunknown, Soundgarden- their multiple platnum album is supposedly one of their best. i had it and gave it to my brother. meh.

Piper at the gates, Floyd- ok, i DO like this album. but it don't think it's as good as some people make it out to be. not even in floyd's top 5, IMHO.

Heart- anything. i can't stand them.

Bob Seger- :hammer:

Your NY Dolls comment was not a response to mine, then? Cool.

I'll take "Louder Than Love" for $800, Alex.

mozart
mozart I can appreciate it, but it doesn't do much for me. The guy was just too good and sounded bored. He really needed Bill and Ted to show up and drag him into the future so he could rock the freak out on a six-keyboard rig.

Your description of Mozart reminds me of Conor Oberst for some reason (juvenile ennui?)

Ha ha - yeah, maybe they're both somebody who's totally ready for the next level, but is staying at the current level because they're succesful there?

Not trying to start trouble...big AC/DC fan here...

But I could live without anything Lange did with them. Even 'Highway to Hell'. And especially anything by that new singer.

Of course, it's not fair to measure anything against a frontman with a pedigree as outstanding as Bon Scott's.

I hate Smashing Pumpkin's, too.

Man, I'm all about some Brian Johnson. Of course, I also think Sammy Hagar beats David Lee Roth, so take what I saw with a grain of salt.
