There were big discussions when "OK Computer" came out as to whether Radiohead were a prog band.

Is there such a thing as 'regressive rock'? The Cramps, maybe.

i guess they're a new kind of prog. not prog like dream theater or something, but there's some stuff going on there. a song like "paranoid android" is a total prog song.

The upcoming Flaming Lips record, At War With The Mystics, will fit this category.

Spock's Beard, absolutely. My 2 degrees of separation is that I know an actress who was in some Star Trek episodes who knows them. Which only makes sense, I guess.

New Pornographers...

Post by mrclean » Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:34 pm

On the one listen I gave to the the most recent New Pornographers disc - TWIN CINEMA, I thought it was very "prog" for a very "pop" band...

I didn't care for it even though I used to listen to "prog" way-back-when.

it occurs to me that there is no such thing as "prog pop". Prog rock, sure. But prog pop? Those words are mutually exclusive.

If you say so, maybe there is no such thing. Then all our effort has been for nought. Oh well.
