Earlier I listened to the record I finished mixing on Wednesday by a band called Nicotine Poetic.

Then I saw the goofy Queens on the Stonage video posted in the people/places board and decided to listen to Them Crooked Vultures on 180 gram vinyl. RAWK

Last night saw ACL from mebbe 2010 and Black Keys was better'n I thought but Sonic Youth was awesome.

Listened to The Essential Nina Simone this AM (early AM); other than the sometimes annoying vibrato it's great stuff, especially the Dylan covers.

Have been listening to/watching lately:

* The first Los Lonely Boys disc on CD (I know I'm about a decade behind on this, but I just picked it up for a couple of bucks)-- really digging it.

* Ray Bryant and Milt Jackson live at Montreaux (DVD)

* Wynton Marsalis & Wille Nelson Play the Blues, Live at Lincoln Center (DVD)

Good Stuff.

Been using Jarre's Oxygene and/or Equinoxe for the evening wind-down send off to slumberland of late.

Now and then I get stuck on a song and just listen to that for some time. This last month it's been Rake by Townes Van Zandt.

Recently had an imaginary recording stuck in my head. Wanted to hear what it would sound like to have Christopher Walken do Tears for Fears "Shout". That would kill.

Patterson Hood - Killing Oscar. As good as any all-Hood DBT - sure I miss Cooley's and Shauna's (who're on here in places along with the rest of DBT) songs and singing, but this is truly excellent, written mostly in '94 and recorded in '05, kinda a lost DBT record.

Chris Cornell - Carry On. I still haven't bought Soundgarden's latest, but I do enjoy this ever so much more than Scream, altho' my teen daughter digs both.

Silversun Pickups - Neck of the Woods. I'm not big on the drium sound -it's so annoying I hafta mention it (latest Bush, also) but other than that, solid.

Bauhaus - Go Away White. If you are a fan, well, this is my fave, after Gotham.

The new Yo La Tengo album, Fade. I've listened to it at least once every day for a week, and am thinking this is their best album in 13 years. Produced by John McEntire (instead of their usual producer, Roger Moutenot).
