New song, Psych/Folk Rock

Post by Mason » Fri Jan 13, 2006 3:34 pm

I put up a new song, "She Scatters the Seeds," on my band's myspace site:

www.myspace.com/thelevitations

We use a 424mkIII with a couple decent condenser mics and I'm really pleased with the results. Not perfect, but a good representantion of the songs and enough fidelity to allow for some groovy moments. More songs on the way.

I've been recording other bands as well and I'll post links to their songs as they become available. Recording other bands is a gas!

Thanks for the kind words.

You can find a couple of recent recordings done for another band at:
http://www.myspace.com/hartandthehurricane

Peep songs "Line Dancing..." and "Wrote Her Name..."

These were done with the same gear as the Levitations recordings. I think these songs sound a little better, mostly because the band's drummer has some very serious drum tuning skills and laid down a great foundation for ensuing tracks.

Nice!

What did you use for the verb? Lots of it, but it sounds good.

Well done - I dig that guitar lick in the left side on the chorus part, very nice sound.

We use a '70s-looking Sansui home stereo spring reverb when we bounce and mix. Sometimes we use a Tapco spring unit when we track. Both these items were found on my partner's junk hauling job and rule.

Very nice. Rock'n' roll. I hope you don't mind if I do the "sound like..." game, but your music reminds of the some of the Byrd's ala "Sweetheart of The Rodeo", David Crosby at his most freewheelin' and rockin'.
More please.

I'm pretty sure Crosby wasn't on Sweethearts of the Rodeo. That's why it's so good. Hillman/MGuinn/Parsons/Clarence White and a few other folks I believe.

Crosby left about halfway through the recording of Notorious Byrd Brothers.

Hence the horse
