"Rock and Roll Part III"

Post by ;ivlunsdystf » Fri Mar 03, 2006 8:16 am

...and the song is still played at every major sports event at least once.

I think it's time to finally extinguish Gary Glitter's one-hit. Maybe we need to make bumper stickers for the cause. Or, maybe I should just concede that, perversions of the guy aside, it's a very brilliant piece of music in a very irritating sort of way.

Anyway, he's back in jail:

I'm usually a fan of keeping the art separate from the artist...

In this case, however, this bastard is paying off authorities in all of these countries to either get out of or reduce jail time. And he's probably using royalty money. I'm just glad Vietnam gave him what time they did. He's clearly unrepentant.
The girls' families wrote to the court in December, asking that charges be dropped after Glitter paid $2,000 to each of them.

Although prosecutors decided to move forward with the case anyway, under Vietnam's legal system, the payments are considered "compensation" that counts towards lessening any sentence.
$2000 is probably one play at a football game.

I'm with Tatertot. At the very least, people should know that the song that's being played at the game is paying for this man's habits.
