I't's hard to tell what mic is being used on the guitar when either the mic or the pre is distorting. Maybe the vocal should be a little distorted though.

can you be more specific?

is it distorting throughout the entire tune, or just loud peaks? I don't hear it. The mic is an MXL990.

The guitar is distorting through the whole song. The vocals sound pretty clean though. What preamp were you using on the guitar, that could be what was cliping.

hmm

doesn't make sense to me, there is only one mic, an mxl990 LDC going into the Behringer mixer with built in mic pres. RNC is on the aux send/return in regular mode.

It's possible the guitar at times is louder than the vocals clipping, but I'm hardly ever hitting 0db, and don't hear any distortion in the phones.

Maybe you are hearing some fret buzz from the guitar being tuned down 1 step??

the compressor should be checked out, or just the settings caused the distortion being heard?

I also did an acoustic electric verison of this, but I wouldn't want to upset the folkie purists.

The fact that you're challenging us to guess what mic makes me think you used all SM57
