My favorite band I know from tapeOp is John Vanderslice. All of his albums have great songs with amazing production. Why isn't he more famous?

Tapeop has led me to appreciate the classics more. I am talking particularly about Mr. Billy Joel, but there are many others like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and whatnot. There are so many recordings that are simply amazing that I had written off because I heard them too much on cock rock FM stations. Now, when I go back and hear the CD and LP versions on headphones, I'm in audio heaven.

That's good to hear, Tater. FM rock radio has probably steered people away from more good music than is commonly recognized.

Anyway, I will chime in that I bought Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden" based solely on the TapeOp article about it...I am sure I'm not the only one around here who did that. And it's freaking great.

I've heard great stuff from people on this very board! My faves are The Sleeves, The Dammitheads, Backyard Tire Fire, Push Pull, Harley Fine, Nigun Orchestra, and Roh Delikat. The next Brant Bjork album is also going to be pretty ridiculous.
