Could someone give me advice on how I should go about mixing this? Specifics general?

The rest of the album is coming well but this one is a little testy.

FYI. Its a gameboy/ukulele band so the sounds are integral (though I woud consider rerecording the vox or the uke), just to avoid any "use different sounds bits"

Here is another track to give you an idea

I would really really appreciate any advice. This is my first time mixing

Thanks,
Casey

p.s. There is some autotune of the vox, I just did two takes to get something to work around but I intend to rerecord them when Im a little closer

Heres the whole shindig in lossless. I think the ones that need the most help are Kids, Janes and Up (these are just abbreviations)

(Up still needs tims vocals on the choruses)

I really appreciate any advice. I'm going to get them mastered and pressed but I want to get as close as possible. Like I said this is the first time I've had to mix with in a pop sort of context so any objective-ish ears...

I've never heard a gameboy/ukulele group before - and it's not really a genre I would run out to buy an album of. I do find it interesting though.... So, take this with a grain of salt.

What bothers my ears is the high "aaahhh" vocals. They don't sit in the mix with the rest of the elements. Perhaps try some reverb, or some creative eq/compression. Or, if you are not too married to it, get rid of it.

Hope that helps,

Jerry

I record mostly singer songwriters who fall into the folk rock catagory, small group jazz, and classical.

I'm a bit of a Gameboy/Ukelele specialist, so maybe I can be of help.

I'm kidding. but I do love the Janes song. The ahhs don't sit well for me either, try fucking them up a bit, the female(?) vocal sits better on Ghetto. For the Janes ahhs, how about a filter thing that you can screw with over the length of the song?

Ever gotten your hands on a banjo uke? they record real nice.

EDIT: Upon further listening, I love your songs. I think the solution for your background vox is granular delay. It will put them in a reverby space, and be rough in the spirit of the project. I'd like to hear the uke more clearly somehow, panning maybe? I love it when the uke pokes out of all that Gameboy roughness.
Keep it up.
We wanted to play traditional jazz in the worst way...and we did!
