Live From Abbey Road

Post by wrenhunter » Sun Aug 26, 2007 3:18 pm

Anyone watching this show on Sundance? Plenty of gear shots, pretty good performers (Dr. John, Gilmour), and archival snippets (e.g. Burt Bacharach conducting orchestra in 1966!) make it pretty interesting for me. Anybody else?

Corrine Bailey Rae (sp?) was really really good. It's such a shame her records sound like complete ass in contrast. The show in general sounds completely amazing. Those guys up in the control room really know what they're doing.

I haven't seen the show (the A string jammed into the antenna jack of my TV doesn't pick up that particular channel), but last year I saw a DVD of Tim Christensen Live at Abbey Road. It doesn't seem like he's on the TV series, maybe because he isn't too well known here (he's from Denmark). But it was pretty amazing, check him out in general and in particular check out that DVD if you're enjoying the show.

i actually did a focus group for this show a couple weeks ago. i told them i liked it :D
i think the show is really cool, a really cool premise where you can see people playing actual music live. the performance are intimate, it sounds killer, and gave me new appreciation for artists i didn't really know much about. some good ones where Norah Jones, Snow Patrol, Jamiroquai and Iron Maiden. John Mayer is actually a good guitar player, but every time he talks, someone should punch him.

Did you tell the focus group that John Mayer should be punched?
