I thought it was interesting to see a large session in 1980. A little low on content in general, but neat for nostalgia's sake.

That was awesome. Is it me or was the background singer saying 'contract'?

Holy crap that's cool.

CTW knew how to make some music happen. They undeniably altered the course of music up right up through the current day.

I actually take back what I said about "low on content." It occurred to me that the early concept of the show was much cooler than I thought.

"It's about people, things, and ideas all coming together. And it's for you!"

I think only later did it become more about science and technology.

So really, just *watching* a recording session without the intervention of a voice-over or explanation is fascinating in this context. I think early Sesame Street shorts were often like this, like the Philip Glass kaleidoscope stuff.

This has inspired me to make my engineering more about coming together than anything else.

Oh, which reminds me: Kucinich 2008.

Interesting also is the early history of the CTW and Sesame Street:

Maybe just to me. It is interesting to see the real-life economics and business development of something that was so influential on my childhood.

I love (and loved) this bit... my first glimpse ever, back in the day, of what a recording session was about.

Do they still make shows like this? Shows that are educational and fun for kids? Shows that aren't just advertising campaigns?

Sadly, no. Would you like to buy some Thomas the Tank Engine Fruit Snacks?

Here's another cool 3-2-1 Contact music segment, Suszanne Ciani on the show demonstrating modular synthesis. She's soooo very.

i disagree.

"Between The Lions" gets my vote, it's geared mostly toward reading and spelling.

no merch associated with that show, either.

i watch it with my daughter most weekdays after lunch.
