Wierdest song I have done...

Post by MichaelAlan » Thu Dec 20, 2007 6:48 pm

My first recording with Tracktion...Would really like some feedback. Any advice at all is appreciated.

All guitar and bass sounds are a GnL tele through a Peavey classic 50. (bass is pitch shifted an octave). I used (and like the Audix D2 on the peavey. CAD LDC on the vocals.

edit: Found a sweet reverb called pianoverb. It is awesome on the main guitar track...

Only thing I'd say is shorten the intro slightly. Otherwise, VERY unique and original sort of electric mutant-folk thing you have going here, VERY cool and extra points for originality!

i always get picky when digital reverb picks up 'sss' and 't's' and the high brittle parts of voice and guitar. you'd avoid that 'plugin' sound if you were able to eq the 'send' from the track to the reverb channel. i'd vote a low pass around 10k, nothing too harsh though.

good mix and balance.

First of all, great song. This is the best I've heard on TapeOp 4 a while. All I would say is that the background vocals are a little loud, and I think that there should be a little more of the main vocals relative to the guitar. Aside from that I think you got a groovay thing.

Man, thanks guys. I have already mixed a few more times, so I don't remember which verb I had on the vox now, but they are hissy. Either Ambience or omniverb. This is totally just for fun right now, sorta pre-production for a small record we are doing for our old manager's new label. But I really appreciate all the feedback. I think i just like hearing other peoples likes and dislikes when it comes to the details...

edit: My favorite is the 6 seconds of accidental silence in the beginning...
