"The Bruised Reed": CD finished (checkz it outz...

Post by pedrohead » Wed Feb 06, 2008 11:58 am

Finished up last week. Done in true TapeOp fashion (all self-recorded/mixed/mastered at home).

My wife sings, I do pretty much everything else. Don't really know what we sound like, but say our influences are along the vein of: Petracovich, Inara George, Pedro The Lion, Low, Eisley, Sixpence None the Richer, Death Cab for Cutie, Elliott Smith, etc.

Love to know what you think. Scathing reviews welcome:

Fantastic! I really like the music and the recording is very good and unique. I'm doing the same thing producing and recording my own band album. I hope I can get as good sound as you have achieved.

The only thing I would add, is that there seem to be some inconsistencies in the style of each mix. For example "Tempers and Tortures" and "Because of you" as if they were done completely different times an for different albums. But I like 'em anyway.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback.

...and your point is actually right on. The songs are actually just individual tracks I've been working on over the past two and a half years when I've had free time between work and recording other people's stuff, so there really is no consistent tone.

Equipment and recording styles and whatnot have all changed through that time. It's funny you mention those two songs, because "Tempers and Tortures" is one of the very first ones I did (it's over 2 years old now) and "Because of You" is one of the newest...So that's actually very observant :)

Wow, topic revisited 5 years later :)

Yeah, as a matter of fact that is. We just whipped that up for a Detroit tribute album that was released for free yesterday. Thanks for the note!

Check out the whole Elliott Smith album at:

And as far as The Bruised Reed, we put out a new EP since this post above that you can DL for free at:
