I like the clarinet breakdown when you can hear the PFFF PFF PFFFF PFFF PFFF before each note. Nice work.

a different mic pre or other technique for recording clarinet?

you probably need to work on your embouchure:

That blowing sound before notes can be used as a technique to soften the effect of the notes, or it can get in the way of the clarity of the melody if done without intent.
