Do this little trick:

"take me home....country road....to a place....where I belong...
West Virginia... mountain mama...take me home... country road"

transition to:

"comma comma comma comma comma chameleon...they come and go...they come and go oh whoa whoa"

When the Stroke's first album came out, I swear, every single song had me saying?'Hey! that sounds just like that song', but I couldn't quite nail the song that it sounded like.

Neu! is a German Band that sort of broke away from early kraftwerk to continue in a guitar based format. I cannot recall a song title (their mostly in german) specifically.

Yeah, you'll find that a lot with '50s music, either the I-IV-V or I-vi-IV-V progressions and similar melodies...

Bangles "Manic Monday" vs. Prince "1999"

Of course, both were written by Prince. The verses are quite similar though.

There's some song by Nickelback (at least I think it's Nickelback...) I heard the other day where the vocal phrasing in the verse sounds exactly like the verses to Come As You Are.

I'm quite a fan of the strokes, but it's definitely funny to listen to most of the songs on the first two albums back to back with "everybody's happy nowadays" by the buzzcocks:

Wilco also have a song called Spiders (kidsmoke) that is nearly identical to Neu! I am not complaining however.
I thought the album version of Spiders (kidsmoke) was a charming curiosity, a pretty blatant krautrock homage, but I didn't find myself returning to it.

The version of that song that appears on the live Kicking Television album: gloriously massive. Great example of how powerful a rock band Tweedy and crew can be when they really let loose.

Cheers,

- Jay

"My Iron Lung" by Radiohead really sounds a lot like Nirvana. Not exactly sure what song...."Heart Shaped Box" maybe? I've always thought that this was one of their least original moments.

And don't get me started on Beck's "Sea Change". He manages to "pay homage" to Nick Drake, Radiohead and Serge Gainsbourg a little too well....."Paper Tiger" should have got him sued (maybe it did?).

Can anyone place the hook/chorus to the first song on the latest Band Of Horses album? The line that goes something like: "When I live alone, is there a ghost in my house."

It's a melodic/rhythmic/etc replica of some '80s pop hit (I think female vocal) that's been on the tip of my tongue for months. Anyone else hear it?
