The Toadies - New Studio Album

Post by andrewfoshee » Sun May 25, 2008 12:47 am

Haven't heard it, but can't wait. Hope it's anything like 1994's Rubbernuck. What a great album! Anyone remember these dudes?
I will see you there, or I will see you at another time.

Remember these dudes??! I never forgot em! My band performed a great cover of "Tyler" several times in the last six months, and my girlfriend and I have tickets to see them when they come to the DC area in June.

New album scheduled for August 19th 2008. (Yay!)

Only downside to the whole story is that Todd's voice is just not what it once was.

A friend of mine just flew out to Dallas to tryout for their bass position.
He didn't get it, but seemed to have a great time playing with them.

Never got into the whole record, perhaps I should revisit, but Possum Kingdom is an amazing song.

their second album was waaay mediocre.

the first one was great.

I wonder if 10 years later, they'll have anything really new to offer.

I thought there were some highlights. Like "Dollskin", "Push The Hand", "You'll Come Down" and especially "Pressed Against The Sky".

Now that I've listed half the album as highlights, I have to say I just like it. It's not Rubberneck, but I listen to it from time to time, and some of those songs have 5 stars in my iTunes, which isn't that common.

Todd's voice is not what it once was, and it shows on HB/SA (the second album). Their guitar sounds on the second one are amazing to me, but overall it is a bit overcompressed for my tastes. One of the loudest albums I have.

Todd Wilcox (not Lewis)
