Free Album: Eternal Buzz Brass Band! ENDING SOON!
For your enjoyment (and criticism, if you see fit) I'm giving away, to TOMB members, free downloads of the debut album, Evolution, from my band, The Eternal Buzz Brass Band. It was released about a year ago on Rope-a-Dope Digital, but now as the exclusivity of the digital distro contract comes to a close, I thought I'd celebrate by giving it out to some fine folks... that'd be y'all.
It's half originals and half covers. I'm pretty proud of it.
HERE'S THE LINK TO THE DOWNLOAD. IT'S A .ZIP FILE. About 97 Mb total. L.A.M.E. encoded mp3's.
I'm including album cover and back art, but here's some info anyways, if anyone cares:
Basic tracks recorded at Daptone Studios. Recorded to 1"/16 track tape (tascam ms16). Nick Movshon was the engineer.
Overdubs, mostly the extra percussion, some backgrounds and counter horn parts and some of the solos done at my old studio in Brooklyn. Some of it was overdubbed on remaining tracks on my tape machine, the rest in the digital realm, where eventually everything was dumped.
Track 4, Reprise was recorded solely at my studio on a 388.
Everything mixed by me through a Tac Scorpion board.
Mastered by Carl Rowatti at Trutone.
Enjoy!

Glad you liked it.
Just so y'all know, I'll be taking down the download link in the not too distant future. This album is still sold online and I probably shouldn't have a free copy just floating around forever. Feel free to spread the word to any non-TOMB members you feel would enjoy this in the meantime, though.
I'll give it at least another week.
Thanks,
Geoff

Nope. Only done one gig with the band in LA since moving here, as the rest of the (original) band is in New York. The gig was at a mostly DJ party called "The Do-Over" over in Hollywood back in August. Good times. Very packed. It was a combination of a couple of my NYC guys who were here on other gigs and some local guys on Tuba and conga. I've thought about resurrecting a full-on west coast version of the band, seems like it would make sense in a city that sees 80 degree weather in the middle of January, but I've been busy with other aspect of life and haven't really put more than a passing thought into it here and there.

Tonic was great. Kind of like a microcosm of the economy and housing markets, though. Kind of doomed from the start. Too big to sustain itself for what it was, but for a certain group of people, totally awesome while it lasted. We should've taken it's demise as a sign of things to come.trumpetgunk wrote: Rope-a-Dope brings back memories of listening to Sex Mob at Tonic at a midnight show a few years back. Still miss that place...
Of course. You know my limitations, though. Still don't really have the horns available out here like I had in NY.boriscrispin wrote:Still up for being horny with me?
