I'd have to say the new Dinosaur Jr. when it comes out. I'm a sucker for anything Mascis oriented...

This is going to sound lame as hell with the disclosure, but honestly, one of my favorite bands of all time reunited last year and made a terrific record with Rob Gal and Brian Paulson. These guys played a lot around the East Coast in the late 80s and early 90s, first as The Popes, then as Stumble, then as The Lovely Lads. What's lame about it is that I'm now playing drums with this band, but I didn't really have anything to do with this new CD. Anyhow, it just came out and it's definitely my favorite new CD of 2009. The band is based in Washington, DC and they're called The Public Good. The CD is aptly called Number One. It's really, really fantastic four-piece guitar rock with a power pop sensibility to it, ala The Jam, The Kinks, Big Star, and The Replacements. Check it out! Good stuff!

Anyone heard Steven Wilson's "Insurgentes" album? It's a beautiful piece of work I'm sure a lot of you might appreciate. Great sonic textures... my fav '09 album for sure!

Any hip-hop fans here?
I've been listening to the shit out of "Never Better" by P.O.S. I would've posted it earlier, but I didn't realize it was released in '09 until yesterday.

I'm with you there. I think jazzmasters in general are unfairly overlooked. Love 'em.

I like the new DOOM. The P.O.S. is growing on me too.
