I like Loscil a lot for droney beats. Tim Hecker is worth a look as well.

I first thought of Labradford, not all of it has beats. Fixed : Context was what came to mind.

If you are looking for more upbeat and electronic, Ulrich Schnauss has a good 80's vibe to it and it is all instrumental as far as I know.



you could throw on Somafm.com for a few hours and find something there I'm sure.

the Alien8 and Constellation record labels might have something, even Kranky perhaps. I would definitely youtube before you buy though.
