Echo & the Bunnymen, The Fountain: while I love this band and this record is quite good, it seems there are some obvious edits on the title song, what is weird.

right now i'm marveling at how good and intense sounding Young Widows' Old Wounds sounds, especially considering how a good deal of it was recorded live at different venues. love this band.

also listening to a ton of Mogwai since i'm going to see them play tonight. so stoked! their records are great but recordings can barely do justice to the dynamic range they have as a live band.
the tape is rolling, the ones and zeros are... um... ones and zeroing.

We've moved our studio, and I'm _finally_ getting a proper record library set-up. I can't believe how many LP's, CD's, and especially _cassette tapes_ and CDR's I've accumulated over the years.

I recently purchased the Numark PT-01 turntable as a back-up/DJ/back room auditioning turntable, so while organizing things in the library, I've been pulling all kinds of records-- both Bruford/Moraz "Music for Piano and Drums" albums, lots of Reggae, the first U.K. album ("In The Dead of Night"), a bunch of 80's things, Steely Dan "Aja," Tina Brooks on Blue Note, Al Stewart, some Blues and Country...

Tonight or tomorrow, I'm thinking some Olatunji...

Listening to Lee Dorsey "Yes We Can" over and over and over. Lee, Allen Toussaint & the Meters. It's all one chord, it's melodic, it's funky as hell and it's killing me.

Say Gregg, you wouldn't happen to have an extra copy of Jimmy Smith- Back at the Chicken Shack to
swap for some of the usual cra.., I mean a Foreigner album or something would you?

No, sorry shred, but I once helped build a studio with chicken-wire, does that count?

If you have any other jazz or blues requests that I happen to have, I'd be happy to cdr-you for the cost of cd and postage; you can keep the cra, I mean Foreigner. Now, if you find an original, mint FOGHAT pressing, perhaps we have something to talk about...

Chris,

Whenever someone mentions Klaatu, I don't necessarily think of the band, or of the original film of "The Day..." No, I think of this review of a Carpenter's album. Dig this--

I wonder... is it possible to conduct an exorcism and erase or at least mitigate the influence all those Carpenters albums had, and continue to have?

I know, I know... painfully idealistic of me. But we gotta start somewhere...!
