Early Black Sabbath. The solos are integral parts of the song. The moments really arrive.

When I read the title of this thread I thought you meant per record.

I say two, and so does "Back in Black".

For three solos, I prefer three players, which is why I vote for the end of Abbey Road.

I believe Stevie's Spankin is Zappa, Vai and Dweezil. That's kindof what I meant. My fave is one long solo "section" that's got 3 dudes going from high to higher to stratospheric.

I had a lead singer (band leader) who once told me to only play 3 drum fills per gig.

With the extended outro, I think Motorhead's Bomber makes it to three.

And if they weren't faded at three minutes, I pretty sure Link Wray's Rumble, Ace of Spades, Jack the Ripper, etc would reach three, also.

I was gonna say the same thing.

If that's really Jimmy Page, then um, WOW!

The guitar solo on "Blue Train" is also amazing!

Not sure what is meant by "solo" but if you include the intro/head, middle 8 and an outtro, there's lots of songs with 'em.

I'd go so far as to say any guitar-based song with an outtro more likely has 3 solos than not, even.

And yeah, if Martsch or Mascis or Page or :name yer fave guitar player here: plays it.

Aiight, just about anything by Peter Frampton, the Allmans, Gov. Mule, Phish, and there's a lotta Stones songs ...

Cypress/Afoot, which combines the album and the EP, on CD; it's 2003 on EMI.

I have both on vinyl, too, but they are in storage.

I got turned onto them because of Murmur, and following up on that record. I'm pretty sure I saw 'em back in the '80's, either in Chicago or Champaign (more likely), but my memory is hazy - so many bands back then when I was in school. I mean, I know I saw the Del Fuegos, Guadalcanal Diary, Mojo and Skip Roper, Dream Syndicate, Jason and the Scorchers during those years, etc.

But "Blue Line", "Every Word Means No" and "Easy Does" were always faves; I seem to remember a vido or two on MTV, and mebbe even a short interview ...

I remember Dexter Romweber's Flat Duo Jets, also. 8)

Sure, I know them well. I bought the CD re-issues when they came out at Tower in Boston back then.

We've done all three in the past year. "Every Word" has been kind of a standard on most shows since at least 2007, but when Mitch put that Gravel Truck band together last year, we started doing "Easy Does" and "Blue Line." Susan Bauer Lee sounds so good singing it! Faye Hunter has been coming out to a bunch of our Winston Salem shows, too, which is always cool, but we can't seem to get her to come up on stage with us yet.

They had a couple of really funny videos. Most of them used to be up on You Tube, but they got taken down for some reason.

Sure! In fact, Sara (Dexter's sister/original Let's Active drummer) is touring with Dex these days.

No plans right now, but would love to. You'd be surprised how easy it might be to make that happen if someone could book us there with a good band at a cool club. We did short stint a couple of years ago where we got close (Columbus, Normal, St. Louis, Nashville, and Atlanta), but haven't been all the way to Chicago in the last three years. Maybe we'll get up there when Mitch gets this new record done.

If you don't have the last one (Dynamico), you should get it. It's really, really fantastic. Keep an eye on the board or on my website about whatever gigs we have coming up. If we're going to Chicago, it'll be on there. We don't have anything booked in the new year right now, but I'm sure we'll wind up doing some more dates before long.
