I think there was a typo. They wrote "hacks" instead of "pisses on," "assaults," "insults," "sets fire to" etc.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. That is - whoever wrote the title is trying to sensationalize it.

I did this in a first year class in college. We'd split the (60+) group in to halves and each half would get a 'conductor.' Then you basically just jam by using 30 people as your instrument. Good times.

Bobby's right. Almost any crowd can just do it, so long as they don't think about it too much.
