Realistically though, music at funerals kinda sucks. Speaking from personal experience, there's a couple songs that were used at a friend's funeral that I can't stand hearing anymore because of it. Maybe that's just me.

Great topic. Not that I like death or funerals, but a good piece of music can give one a sort of glimpse of things on a cosmic, sweeping scale, make one feel the connection between life and death. These two pieces remind me of the staggering awe appropriate to the human condition:
