The Beatles perform Dark Side of the Moon
Maybe this should go into the "Listening to Music that Only Exists in Your Imagination" forum, but a series of daydreams led me to this-- there MUST be the program, these days, that would create/modify/morph the fab four playing and singing DSOM? I hear George starting it off, with his muddy, lilting brogue, "breathe, breathe in the air..."
"Don't be afraid to care," now there's a George Harrison line if ever there was! On the word "leave," Paul and John join in with their shrieky harmonies, and George gives the next line his trademark wink and smile: "but don't leave me!"
I can't be the first person who's thought of this. There's a Melodyne think tank somewhere, I'm sure of it....

I imagine it would all fall apart this way: for the female vocal ooh-ahh on "Great Gig in the Sky," Paul would want Linda, John would insist on Yoko, and Ringo and George, outvoting the other two, would choose Petula Clark. To which Paul would counteroffer Dusty Springfield, while John counter-countered with Marianne Faithful. In the end, they'd go with Shirley Bassey....

Anyone who was a fan of both bands would love it. But, anyone who was REALLY into Pink Floyd, but not The Beatles, and especially if they weren't really familiar with The Beatles, would FUCKING HATE IT. Trust me.

The Beatles could definitely nail "Money," and IMHO (dare I say it?) even add something to the original. . . .
It's not only fun to daydream about something like that, but also possibly a great creative tool. I imagine that kind of thinking being useful for helping define new and maybe elusive musical ideas. . . .
Thanks for the interesting perspective!

Joel-- Petula Clarke would be busy doing a show on the teley with Twiggy; Apple Records would try to ring-up Sandy Duncan (for her perkiness), but would mistakenly call _Sandy Denny_.
THEN, everything would be back on track, with a vengeance.
GJ
PS-- I seem to remember quite a few keyboard parts on those Beatle records, before, during, and after Billy Preston. I'm sure that would be no trouble at all...

>>>>Tiny Tim would need a cameo...<<<<
(With a falsetto that sounds like David Sedaris doing an imitation of Billie Holiday doing an imitation of David Sedaris singing like a drunk Ethel Merman that has been sucking on helium and trying to match pitch with a Theremin):
..."The LUN-a-tic is IN my HEAD! The Lun-a-Tic IS in MY HEAD!"
GJ
PS-- Interesting reference, Joel, since I was at my mother-in-law's family reunion over the weekend, and was a captive audience to endless versions of ukelele-lead old-time sing-a-longs like "Harrigan" and "Sweet Sue."
