Ha. One of my favs coming-up, fo-sho.
Did you see him somewhere recently, Chris?
I was at the Police Picnic in Toronto in '82. First time I saw Copeland live (and the last, actually, but I'm a big fan of his recorded output). In HS, I was a _huge_ Police fan, and interestingly enough, I liked The Doors a lot, too. I never in a million could have imagined Copeland and Manzarek in the same band though.

Copeland was on Letterman for "Drum Solo Week 2." He played great, especially considering it's the first real drum solo I've ever heard him do. He's the reason I started playing and continues to inspire me some twenty eight years later. I've seen him live three times-- twice with the Police and I was also fortunate enough to see the first night of the five-show Rhythmatist Tour in Miami in the early 90s.
Him playing with the Doors seemed weird to me, too, although I never got to hear it. I'm not sure why everyone always seems to slag Ray Manzarek. He seems like the nicest, most sane dude in that band. He was definitely the best player.

I would think that in a way, Stewart would sort of be cool with Manzarek, although I can't really hear his stamp on the Doors material. I would be curious about it, though. Seems like it was REALLY short-lived. I've never been able to find any recordings of that stuff.
Iv'e heard a lot of people say that they think Manzarek is an asshole, but I think they're getting him confused with Robbie Krieger.

He's great...
I saw the Police live once (early 80's) and he's awesome...
Just watched an old episode of "The Young Ones" - Brit com from early eighties (anyone else remember it?)
The musical guest was a band with Jools Holland and I recognized Stewart in the drum seat...

The thing Mr. Copeland has, that I admire most in any drummer, is drive. He can play an entire album without a single hit the doesn't push the song along.
Anyone else find this disturbing though?
