My friend did a mix and then sent me the multitracks to remix. I had difficulty dealing with a couple of the sounds he'd got, but did my best. Do you feel my mix is an overall improvement?

My mix vs friend's original mix
"Took my money, I couldn't buy nothin. I'm sick of this brave new world."
I felt that the drums (mostly snare) were too loud in the verse on your mix ... then the drums come down in volume during the choruses. The distorted guitars sounded better on your mix though (a little thin on the original).

I preferred your version. More 'pop'. I'd push the vocals and bass still. And while the darker drums work great in the bridge / chorus, you could have a different tone in the verse. The stereo balance is a bit wonky in the first verse before the rhythm guitar comes in. Can you re-record the vocals? All it'd need is a bit more balls and it'd be great.
