Jazz band featuring marimba maniac

Post by joelpatterson » Thu Aug 01, 2013 1:08 am

Okay, okay, "maniac" is a completely inappropriate and exaggerated characterization-- he's actually a marvelously sensitive, brilliant player who's just settled on this unusual instrument to stake his claim to glory-- which, time will prove, is undisputed.

The thing that gets me: there's something about the angular, seemingly disjointed flux of these jazz melodies that just gets under your skin and into the bloodstream-- flowing, soothing, haunting.

Cool sound and nice work, Joel.

It looks like they had a nice crowd; how many were related?

I saw two sets of parents, so there's four, and their middle school and high school music teachers... as opposed to the concert in the coffee house I'd recorded earlier in the day... the crowd consisted of the band that was going to play next!!! Aye-yi-yi...
