"Calling All Friends" Could Use a Few Ears

Post by Robertt8 » Wed Oct 01, 2014 3:38 am

Hey guys,

I?ve got a song that I feel is pretty close to being done.

I?ve tried to master it myself, but I?m not sure how it compares and I?m a little worried I might be squashing it too much.

Can you guys give a listen and let me know your opinions?

Any other song and mixing advice is always welcome as well.

That sounds really good! The only nitpick I can hear is that there is a bit of muddiness in the midbass, particularly during the quieter sections. Maybe try some complimentary EQ in that range between the vocals and the acoustic guitar to give them both a bit more space?

Thanks for taking the time to check it out and respond JWL! I'll look into the mud and see if I can wash a little away. You're only noticing it in the quieter sections?

I think it's most noticeable there, which is why I suspect the vocals and the acoustic guitar.

I apparently suck greatly at mixing bass into the mix. any pointers?

Good stuff

Hey;

I really like this song. Could use some help in the mix but I am a total newbie to mixin' my own stuff. I can hear when my stuff don't sound right, but how to fix it is another question. The one item that I did notice is on the guitar solo, I thought it was too bright and it sounded like it was in a completely different room.

Other than that, good stuff. I look forward to hearing more.

Cheers~
