I can't decide if this is music, or just sonic wallpaper:

Nice wallpaper, if it is, but not that much going on musically. What do you think?
It's inspired by some of the guitar-based music coming out of North Africa.
edit: I don't know... people seem to really like it, so maybe I'll change my mind over time. But right now I feel like there's something missing, that it's only surface-level.

The only thing missing is the movie it should be the soundtrack for. Does soundtrack equate with wallpaper? I like it either way...

Re: guituareg (North African inspired)
Thanks. As a listener, I like it... as a player, I know I could have done better, particularly with the guitar part, but it's so awash in effects it wouldn't have mattered much anyway. I don't normally play with a lot of effects, so to me it feels like cheating to have the pedals do the work, even if the results sound good. So it's a guilt thing, I guess. Ah, well... on to the next one! Feels good to be recording again.

Here's a new one, along the same lines... I feel better about this one.

Next one. This one's microtonal... selected intervals from 14 and 15 equal divisions of the octave.

I picture this as a crowded, chaotic street party somewhere in Pakistan, maybe.

I don't know if anyone here has listened to "outside the zoo" yet, but I just replaced it with a re-edited version. It's now distilled down to 4 minutes instead of the original 8.
