Beato/Metheny interview

Post by shedshrine » Sat Aug 28, 2021 6:38 pm

Even if you're not particularly well-versed in theory (which would include myself), it doesn't matter here as this Pat Metheny interviewed by Rick Beato is pretty damn riveting on many levels. "Guys with great feel can play anything" ..well yeah, that and being compulsively productive, and writing ten pages a night about each gig, what went well, what need work. Musicians negotiating through listening, obsessing on living in each others sound, taking it in effectively, negotiating with it and getting to that transcendent thing that music can do. Orchestration, voicing, Lyle, Jaco. "Most of the people who are going to dig your thing are not even born yet". Very articulately discussed and inspiring! 1 hr 45m
