WTB: My Sanity, Acoustic Foam, Diffusers, 703

Post by radiationroom » Tue Jun 06, 2006 7:58 pm

WTB: My sanity - I completely lost it and need a replacement quick!

If sanity is not available, then the next best thing is some acoustic foam, bass traps, etc. If you have any extra Sonnex, Auralex, or comparable products lying around, lemme know and how much you want for them. I'd be especially interested in an "Attack Wall" or something similar. Also looking for 703 fiberboard panels and RPG slat-type difuser units.

Lemme know by replying to petercarli***AT***suscom***DOT***net

Thanks in advance.

I've got several boxes of 703. If you're anywhere near SoCal it might be worth it shipping-wise.

kind of a long trek from you, but if you can't find any, J & S supply (718-786-3044) in Long Island City (Queens) has 703 and mineral wool for good prices. They may ship, but I'd call to ask. I'd assume philly at least would have something comparable.

Thanks for the word-up. :^: I might just call them and make a day trip. It would give me an excuse to visit a few people I haven't seen in years....

I've been calling all around the Harrisburg PA and Baltimore MD areas and every place I've called either can't get it or worse yet doesn't know what I'm talking about. :|

I did find one place that carries Homisote board, and that is the John H. Myer company who stocks it at their location in York PA, but they can't help me with the 703 board or other acoustical control products.

The people at Lowe's and Home Depot are totally brain-dead. One even argued with me :ar15: when I tried to explain to him :hammer: that the "pink" styrofoam insulation board was not the same thing. Finally I said "thanks" and hung up. :x

I tried calling Owens-Corning 1-800-GET-PINK info line and after being on hold 45 minutes I got pissed and hung-up. :ar15: They need to hire some staff for their call center.

So it looks like I'll have to mail-order from California or someplace... :schuettel:

Thanks again for your word-up!

this is what I was going to suggest..

they DEFINITELY won't ship it..they don't have it all the time either..but when they do you can pick it up for about 33$ a 6 pack of 2'x4'x2"..last time i checked anyway..and to warn you they are absolute bastards that deal in the truck load of the stuff + it's illegal for them to sell it to you with out you being a contractor..i think..they will be really mean if you call up and start asking questions..just ask if it's available that day then make the drive..

I was just in H-burg for the Filmfest..Richard Edson was there this year..what a cool guy..I used to live in Hershey..

And I finally did get through only to be told that the 700 series product is not sold to the general public and that I need to be a licensed contractor or dealer to buy it. :ar15: So I asked the guy what do I need to do to become a dealer, and got the phone number for the Philadelphia wholesale rep. So maybe I'll start selling the stuff real soon.... :schuettel: :ar15: :ar15: :ar15:

God damn this is a frustraiting experience.... At least I can get homisote locally without having to jump through hoops....

{EDITED POST - NOT ENOUGH AR15's}

You can try http://www.acrinsulation.com/material_sales.htm They are in Beltsville, MD I live in Baltimore, and this is where I got mine, great price and great guys. Ask for Alvin. If I remember correctly the Johns-Manville stuff was a better deal than the OC stuff.

Cheers,
Micah

703

Post by poorman » Mon Jun 12, 2006 8:21 pm

when i built my studio, i got 703 (1" and 2") from www.sensiblesoundsolutions.com. they have 12 packs of 2x4 1" for $74 and 6 packs of 2" 2x4 for $69. the guy bryan who runs it, is on top of his game as well...i had the 703 at my door within 4 days. he is in the middle of the country, so shipping anywhere in the u.s. was quick, and not too costly.
