Portland house with very cool studio

Post by philipgolden » Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:22 pm

I, alas, will be moving from Portland shortly. We'll probably be listing our house through a realtor eventually, but you know that will end up selling to someone who uses the studio as the kids' tv room. UGH!

The basement studio was constructed by a Lewis & Clark professor in the music department. He took a ton of care and evidently spent a ton, because this is a great space. 2 large isolated rooms (plus a little booth), both wired to the control room. Ceilings around 7 ft or so. On it's own power. COMPLETELY sound shielded from the neighbors. Really nice space. I've used it a ton for 3 years and everyone has been very happy to work there. Bathroom attached plus some storage space. Rack spaces on sliders built into the wall in the control room.

The house itself is a 4 bd/1.5 bath (the half in the studio). Big yards in front and back in very nice Hollywood neighborhood. Great place to live. If I can find the right person to buy who would actually use the studio, we'd sell for 310K-ish. Will list at about 325K, according to the 2 realtors we've had come assess the house.

Man, your place sounds amazing...I have been toying with the idea of moving to Portland for a while now, but I don't think it's gonna happen right now. A place like that where I live (LA) would be upwards of a million bucks...sigh. When exactly are looking to sell?

Update

Post by philipgolden » Sat Nov 26, 2005 12:09 pm

Have had quite a bit of interest in our house from this board. Much more than from Craigslist, for example. I wanted to point out that we have the house listed at 324 everywhere else, including the webpage mentioned in opening post, because we found out that we had underlisted. However, we will honor the 310 to anyone who contacts us through Tape Op. Basically, I want to sell this to an engineer, not someone who will turn it into a rumpus room.

Grapes, figs and persimmons? Crap. I've got rapists, crips and curmudgeons in my backyard. Try listing THAT.
