FS or FA: Altec Modified 1592B w/ 2 Balanced direct XLR outs

Post by tablebeast » Sat Nov 19, 2005 2:57 pm

Hi, I have an unusual item up on ebay right now. Its a sweet Altec 1592B Mixer and Mic Pre, but it has been restored (except for the EQ card, which I don't use) and has two transformer balanced direct outs coupled to gain-modified 1588B modules. That gives it three outputs instead of 1! It also has three 1588C modules in the now 3-Channel mixer section. It works perfectly and even has a 1/4" TRS pigtail tied to the 150 ohm mixer output. This thing has a lot of labor in it as well as parts: the price is a very reasonable $499. If I sell to someone directly without ebay I'll ship for free. Otherwise, you can bid. The auction listing has a LOT more details and a lot of pics of the mod. Here is the ebay link. http://tinyurl.com/8hzqx

If anyone is interested in this mod just search the archives. I posted instructions on doing the mod yourself. These Altec Pres are absolutlely incredible when properly restored and modified. Oh yeah and the 1588C's provide 24 volt Phantom Power.

I am willing to take trade offers on this item. Also, I will sell directly to anyone on the list cheaper than the buy it now. PM me some offers.

Lots of watchers on ebay, but no bidders? Its a sweet pre I'm only selling because I have others and don't need so many pres.
