For use as a delay unit. I'd like to not spend much more than, say, around $50 or so. Anything?

If something only costs $50 it's for a reason - it won't work. There are a lot of old 1/4 track Akais and Teacs around cheap but they usually are in bad shape. Often the drive belts rot due to age. Not always an easy fix.

You might be able to find a decent Otari 5050 for about $200.
