MS16 1" 16 track recorder and all the fixins'

Post by swingdoc » Thu Jan 12, 2006 8:35 pm

Tascam MS 16 1? reel?reel 16 track recorder full meal deal:
(This is not a "gee, i dunno if its working" tape machine, this is a works great cuz I use it daily tape machine.)

Package comes with:

MS 16 Recorder

16 vu metered bridge.

A full extra 16 vu metered bridge for spare parts!!! (The main distribution card on the spare is cracked and has been soldered it looks like a few times, but all the channel cards are there, all the meters and lights work?.so you get 16 spare channel cards, vu meters and lights, etc etc?.. nice!)

2 modules each of 8 track dbx type 1 NR.

All the cables to connect recoder / vu bridge and NR units.

Wheeled stand fits recorder / metered bridge / NR units. (pressboard, fugly, kinda on its last leg-but it works).

9 reels used 1? tape (2 Ampex 456 / 3 Quantegy 499 / 3 Quantegy 456)

1 quantegy 1? 456 tape reel unopened.

Take up reel

Break out cables:

16 XLR female mounted on 1? rack to 16 XLR male fan. ~10 foot cable. (ins to tape)(*custom made by Redco; one channel line not working (#13 I think); probably a simple resolder somewhere)

2 Hosa XLR male to ? balanced ; 8 channel each (outs from tape)

Hewlett Packard Oscilliscope HP1740A (with manual)

HP oscillator 204C (signal generator)

HP voltmeter 403B

Demag tool

Head cleaner and rubber cleaner

Manual (owners and technician) for MS16.

Machine meticulously kept; frequently cleaned, calibrated. Everything including all channels, lights & meters work. Only current known functional problem is that the take up reel plastic adaptor spring is broken so Im currently using cardboard shims to keep the take up reel tight. Sorry but no MRL or calibration tape.
Headlife uncertain but educated guess based on time with machine (Ive owned it about 5 years); info from previous owner ; appearance and performance ~75%. Not a guarantee, just a guess.
This is a darn fine machine. Breaks my heart to sell it all.

RECOMMEND PICKUP ONLY! (Seattle, WA area)
Shipping this (even without the stand) will be onerous and expensive! If you have to have it, and blow my socks off with an offer, expect about a full month and a couple hundred dollars in shipping / crating costs. I will not give estimates for shipping since I dont have it crated.

I prefer not to split it up at this point. If there's something up there you have to have, make an offer.
Reduced price to $2000 for entire package.

email me please. I answer evenings, west coast time. I'll post pics below
