Totally. http://www.keshav-music.com./
that's what you want. I got mine there for around $600 I believe. It's awesome (and tuned to A440).

This may not be very helpful since I'm in Los Angeles, but my nearest local Indian market actually has a couple harmoniums and they're both somewhere around $250, which isn't so far off your budget. I don't know how they compare to the ones at Keshav; they may not be as good. They certainly look the same, if the pictures are anything to go by. But the point is that there are new harmoniums available for much less than $600, which means with some luck, you can probably find one.tiger vomitt wrote:yup i was looking there
the dude is apparently on vacation until the end of the month
i was also hoping to spend about $200
I've been thinking about buying one for a long time. May do it soon. This thread is motivation!

It's the India Sweets & Spices on Los Feliz Blvd. in Los Feliz, just east of the 5 freeway. Not to be confused with the multiple other India Sweets & Spices in other parts of LA. All are good markets, but only this one has instruments! If I remember, I'll try to double check that they still have them in stock.wallace wrote:Really? What market is that? I went to the market today for lunch.
They have five in stock, in various different woods. The guy I spoke with isn't knowledgable about their instruments (they have tabla, dholaks, and a bunch of other stuff) so he couldn't say much about tuning. They are made in Rajasthan.
As far as I can tell, they look and sound like every harmonium I ever saw and heard played all over India. Unless there's some very limited high-end versions of these things for maestros, I'd be hard pressed to believe there's a $400 difference in quality between these and the ones above. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. The one I played today looked exactly like the one above, except the felt was purple instead of red. Same teak(ish) wood.
Price range: $200 to $245. Sounds like a fair deal to me!
