FS: Cylinder Phonograph - Edison GEM

Post by lanxe » Wed Nov 22, 2006 7:54 am

Hi,
I know this is a bit unusual for this forum....but i also know that there are alot of people on here that would appreciate this kind of thing.

its the Edison GEM phonograph. its the black one refered to as the "drip pan gem" because it was one of the earlier made ones without the bottom wood piece.

This thing is over 100 years old and works 100%. it was recently serviced by a local collector (unbelievable collection of all kinds of wind up phonographs). Motor spring is in good shape, gears in good shape (with a recent grease job) and a new drive belt.

there is no wobble and it plays through a 2 minute cylinder very easily. the reproducer is in good shape as well. it comes with 5 black wax cylinders (the two minute kind) and a reproduction horn.

please email me with any questions. i did take some pictures i can post later.

$300 plus shipping.

thanks,
Ryan

That is a work of art...

and I really like seeing it positioned in front of the LCD monitor... serious old-school home studio.

Yeah, check out the little "New hardware found" caption on the lower right corner. I assume there are XP-compatible drivers for Edison phonos, then?
