Take Elliot Smith's name out of the equation and 300 bucks seems like a more reasonable price. It's a 70's bare-bones live sound board, nothing more. What the association with a fameous dead guy adds to the price I'm not sure, but probably not 1700 dollars.

I'm sorry, I had no idea we were being so unreasonable.

If it is only worth $300 then that's what I'll sell it for. I don't make any money on this sale and the several thousand was what someone else told me they sell for. I see that one didn't even sell for $300 on eBay recently so I'm starting to question "several thousand"! I was just hoping the Elliott conncetion might get people interested, but I doubt he ever used it for anything (how?) and just hoped people would notice it and think about buying it. I'm just selling it for his family...

Prepal lists the 200 and 200B boards at $405 and $469 respectively. This board may be related to the 200 series but older. So $300 might be in the ballpark. Is it the old brown Soundcraft or a newer blue one?

It's black, in a silver flight case. See this auction, it's the same.

Wow, too bad that dude couldn't post the picture right-side up!

Yeah, that's even older than I thought. It predates the ones I was thinking of.

Is that a 4-band EQ or a 3-band with sweepable mid?

I agree that it may not be terribly useful given its simplicity, but it might do the job of --and sound a bit better than-- a Mackie 1604 (minus the 2 extra busses)...

True, but more mic inputs than a 1604...

(edit) can't actually remember whether the 1604 had the "only some of the channels sport mic pres" feature.

anyway, carry on.

I agree that the Series 1 (or 1S) is worth only about $250-$400 in the open market. They do sound decent though, better than the 200B and on par with the Series II. The Sowter trannys sound sweet as does the EQ. Some of the Series 1 desks had channels with sweep EQ, similar to the Series II.

Sorry - I'm not an ES fan...but I do hold a torch for Soundcraft Series 1 and 2 desks. Sure they have miserable pots that are crackly to hell at this age, but decent sound overall and nice DAW front end, especially for the $$$. If the Series 1 had more outputs it would be the shite.

ES pedigree and/or possible shittiness aside, that is a really cool looking mixer.
