For sale, a tech-made API compatible half-lunch box aka "snack box" or "value meal" (I came up with those myself ). It's a three space wooden box with openings on both ends and a power supply with connecting cable and power cord. One end has a metal plate with xlr ins and outs for each space and a 4 pin connector for the power supply. The xlr connectors connect to a wiring harness and the connector ports for the 500 series cards.
What happened is that I bought this off ebay before I got any modules and was searching for a lunchbox. I stumbled on this listing:
I am asking $150 shipped to the US (price lowered). I replaced it with an A-Designs 500HR when I got a bonus check from work, and have been keeping it around in case so that I could get a few more cards and put them in, but now I'm selling it because I am sorely tempted to actually do that and I need to pay for my wedding, holiday gifts and start saving for other, more practical things. I also just got hit with over $2k in car repairs in the last three weeks.
Pros as far as I can see them:
Actually works-- I used it with two modules (I've only ever owned two at any given time)
Three spaces for a little more than half the price of two spaces in a 500HR.
Orientation would allow for one 2 space module like a GR 500 or Buzz module.
Charmingly butt ugly
Cons as far as I can see them:
I can say with some certainty that the dude or dudette who built this is not part of the VPR alliance;
I can't guarantee this in any way except to tell you that it worked for me with two modules without any problems.
Cards don't slot in the same way they would in a manufactured rack-- you have to align the connector and the card through the space in the back panel. Not too difficult, but it took a little doing. If you have gigantic freakishly large, uber-chuck norris hands, this might not be for you.
