i've put this off but i figure i'm not doing anything with this. otari mx5050 1/2" tape deck. this is the model which is two separate pieces. bottom with all the VU and knobs and the top with the actual reels and tape heads. purchased this from some indie rockers who did some stuff with it 3 or 4 years ago and didn't really do anything with it. more interested in sample based stuff so it's just been taking up room. has a set of snakes with it which were modded from RCA to 1/4" TS. not the cleanest of jobs but they work. have an empty reel of 456 which could work as a take up reel too. i have about 500 in it and i'd like to get that back. would rather not ship it either. live in northern new jersey about 45 minutes west of manhatten and 2 hours north of philly but spend time down in south jersey about 45 minutes outside of philly. if theres an interest PM me or send me an email at ryanstalter@mac.com

here's the deal, i had someone come here and look at it. they ran some tape and there's a lot of wow. they said it was a really nice machine aside from that. could be the pinch roller tension or a dirty tape path or could be something a little more serious like the servo card. if i fix it i'm probably going to want to keep it for myself and i have no room at all for it so i'm willing to move on the price if anyone wants it as is. i don't know why photobucket deleted my pictures but i still have them if anyone wants to see.
