Mackie MDR upgraded for large HD's, HD dock, extras

Post by drunton » Wed Jun 25, 2008 1:11 pm

I am selling a Mackie MDR2494 hard disk recorder. Simply put, don't deal with computers live, track to this. You will be better off! It writes in small chunks so if there was a power failure, you'd only lose the last 10-15minutes of a long show not whole set's like I have had happen before.

This one has been upgraded to the latest BIOS firmware and software so it can handle large disks and will concatenate all of the small files for super easy import into your favorite DAW.

What's included:
1. MDR2496 with 3 analog IO cards
2. Firmware update (old BIOS chip included)
3. Software update (original disks also included)
4. Caddy with 160Gig drive
5. Empty caddy for whatever drive you want to add
6. Spare brand new floppy drive (the internal one was a little flaky on me last time)
7. Firewire 5.25" enclosure with drive dock for external transfer of data
8. Spare drive dock in case you need to ever change the internal one
9. Mike Rivers' book on the MDR/HDR
10. PCI video card for updating the BIOS (new battery just installed on the motherboard)
11. Original box and manual
12. Some MIDI splitter cable that is useful for syncing to D8B
13. Two DB25 to DB25 hosa snakes for connecting to Onyx series direct outputs

I used this for a live recording and it's great. I am just upgrading to something that can do 96kHz analog, this will only do it with digital cards. It worked flawlessly. The live board was an Onyx 1640 running 16 channels and I ran an external 8 channels with things that didn't go through the live board (toms, bass mic, etc). You can hear samples of the recording here: http://www.authenticaudio.com/MP3/Connection/2008

I can take pictures of all the accessories and can add a picture link for the above recording/live session (I just can't find the link right now).

$700 plus shipping. It's ready to run for a good long time and Mackie is still supporting parts, etc.

PM me.

Here's a link to the pictures taken during the recording gig. You can see the MDR with Cubase running as the backup straight to the laptop from the onyx.
