DBX 163 vintage compressors. pairs or quad SOLD SOLD SOLD
SOLD! THX JONAH! THX ROSS!
I will be putting these on ebay unless someone here wants to grab em' first.
I have two racked pairs. They are colorful and not to be confused w/ modern DBX. These are USA made. Great for things that need some snap and crunch.
$110 to $150 a pair.
Paypal ok. International ok.
I have a lot of ebay and gearslutz feedback.
UPDATE: LOOK A FEW POSTS DOWN FOR PICS AND MORE INFO.

dbx 163
which version of the 163 are these?
Re: dbx 163
They are the originals. Not 'X' or 'A' revisions. Just 163.jmpizzoferrato wrote:which version of the 163 are these?

I finally got a chance to do some good A/B comparisons w/ the 163s and an 1176 today. They sounded surprisingly good in the test tracks. The 163s had more of a presence and bass bump whereas the 1176 had greater midrange focus. The 163s were brighter but the 1176 was a little more airy. 163s were actually quieter than the 1176. They also jusped out in the mix with more aggression though they weren't quite as transparent. Definitely not an audiable $1,500 difference between the 163 and 1176. The 160XT I just sold for $250 (one mono unit) did not sound as good as these IMO.
They have the slider in the front which controls the threshold. They run either +4 or -10 with a switch on the back.
The top pair (a pair being two units) is riveted together. The bottom two are secured to a rack tray.
Both have been wired together for power so one plug powers two units (easily reversible).
Because the rivet job on the first pair leaves a little gap and there's one slider cap missing, I'll offer those super cheap; $110.
The other pair has the knobs and the rack mount is a really nice one so I'd like to get $150 for them.
Hope tyhat answered everyone's questions. If you need to know anything else, you can reach me here or @ ProAudioTubes@aol.com.
Paypal OK, International shipping OK.
