fs: oberheim dx old school awesome drum machine

Post by tiger vomitt » Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:09 pm

great shape. programming buttons are sticky but everything works great. u just gotta wiggle the buttons sometimes, probably due to dirty contacts (i used to have an 808 that did the same thing). all the drum pads work too, these without stickiness. super cool, truly vintage drum machine. old school stuff, ca. 1983 or so. works off eproms. no midi (has in/out ports for clock signal tho). really thick, very not-computerized sound.

tuning knobs on the back so you can do crazy glissando tom tom fills. the tuning knobs are totally awesome btw. has audio outputs for each drum. trigger input too!
google it for pics and more info. OBERHEIM DX
i think i bought it from someone here actually, although it's been a while

picture-wise, it looks like any other DX out there, without any major damage or anything. in fact, it's in really really good shape except for a few light scratches on the bottom from being moved around, id assume. no cracks or scars otherwise. has all 4 of the rubber feet. like your mom.

im selling it cuz i dont make any music that uses sequenced beats anymore (this is my band btw, check it out and come see us on tour sometime if youre nearby http://myspace.com/laotracina). great machine though, really great sound and not as limiting as it might seem given current technologies. if youre farting around with in the box drums, youve gotta try something like this. reason, etc sounds completely lame next to this kind of thing

one went for $200 on ebay from a somewhat meh lookin seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/Oberheim-DX-Drum-Ma ... 240%3A1318

here's another, went for $400 with a road case from a good seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/Oberheim-DX-Vintage ... 240%3A1318
this link has some more info on it

feel free to ask any questions! im a long time TOMB'er with 100% positive ebay feedback, viewable on request.

id like $185 + shipping, OBO

maybe id trade for something cool. i dont know what tho. a keyboard or sound module maybe. fuzz pedals. whatever, try me.
